Ensuite renovation for a Darwin unit

An investment unit needed a simple, bright ensuite. The brief was a clean white finish, a double vanity and a barn-style door, with the tenants still living in the unit while we worked.

Our Solutions

We demolished the old ensuite, rebuilt it with new tiling, vanity, fixtures and lighting, repaired the ceiling after plumbing repairs and handed it over ready for the shower screen to be fitted.

What we did

  • Removed the existing ensuite completely and took the waste away, including a skip bin placed on site.
  • Reviewed the plumbing layout with the plumber (engineering was allowed for in the quote) and reused the existing floor drain.
  • Supplied and installed new floor and wall tiling in a simple, bright finish.
  • Fitted a wall-hung double vanity with an engineered stone top, a mirrored storage cabinet and a barn-style door.
  • Installed the new toilet, towel rail, toilet roll holder and vanity mixer.
  • Fitted four LED downlights and a new ducted exhaust fan grate, and upgraded the switchboard (electrical work by Florance Electrical).
  • Cut in new plasterboard patches and cornice where the ceiling was disturbed by the plumbing repairs.
  • Handed the ensuite over for the shower screen to be installed by a glazier.

Working in an occupied unit

Because the tenants were still living there, we protected the doorway with drop sheets and cleaned up every day so dust and mess stayed out of the rest of the unit.
